Tips for Managing the Festive Season.

Hi there! In this issue of our newsletter, we have some tips for managing the festive season and details of an exciting series of women's workshops! We'd love to hear from you so send us your feedback, comments, suggestions or questions to results@rileylife.co.nz or online at www.rileylife.co.nz
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
Warm regards,
Karyn.

10 Tips For Managing The Festive Season

1.  Start now! Write down what you want to focus on and when. Establish timeframes.

2.  Be organised. Prioritise things you want and need to do. Write these down on To Do lists (both daily & weekly) and review regularly. Make use of your diary, calendar, whiteboard, scheduler etc.. to ensure important dates and times are recorded. Use a system that works for you. Polish up your time management skills. Allocate specific blocks of time for each item (remember to schedule in time for you). Avoid procrastination - take action and do it now! Being organised and on top of things will give you some control in your life during this often hectic period and will reduce worry and stress. To receive your own personal To Do list, contact Karyn online at www.rileylife.co.nz

3.  Minimise stress. Identify any areas that are causing you stress and plan a way to make changes to reduce or remove the stress. Manage your time and resources effectively. Don't over commit yourself - be realistic. Not everything has to be done "before Christmas".

4.  Learn to say NO. Be assertive and feel comfortable saying no. Decline invitations that put you or your family under unnecessary pressure or that you are only accepting out of obligation. Ask yourself "What is the worst thing that can happen if I say no to this?". Your answer might help put things in perspective for you.

5.  Set limits. Be realistic about what you want to achieve before Christmas. Establish  boundaries that will work towards achieving what you want to whilst balancing your enjoyment of life. Keep a close eye on your finances and budget if necessary.

6.  Maximise self-care. Balance your commitments to ensure you get the best of everything. Get plenty of sleep; go to bed earlier than you normally would or catch up whenever you can. Eliminate guilt and worry (negative energy). Be kind to yourself. Use and be conscious of positive self-talk (you are what you think). Maintain or improve your fitness levels. Eat regularly and healthily to enhance your vitality. Monitor your health. Slow down and make time just for you.

7.  Shop smarter. Write things down. Use shopping lists. Shop once a week, at night, or early morning when the queues are reduced, the shopping more enjoyable and the parking easier. Telephone beforehand to check items are in stock and plentiful (let your fingers do the walking).

8.  Think positive. With the right attitude you can do or get through anything. You are what you think. Having a positive attitude is contagious and will quickly spread to others around you.

9.  Go with the flow. Be flexible and willing to adapt, often at short notice. View change as an adventure.

10. Most importantly, smile lots and have fun! Enjoy this special time and reconnect relationships with family, friends and work colleagues. Merry Christmas!
